Q/ What is your goal?

A/

We aim to assist busy families, who, quite often, do not have the time to research, pore over product labels or search out healthier alternatives.  We want to help each individual take small steps to create change that will have positive effects on their personal health and the health of our planet.  We want to encourage and support our local farmers, especially our organic farmers, and our local craftspeople, whenever possible.

Q/ What sort of value can I expect from the products you offer, as compared to other commonly available products?

A/

Sister’s Alternative Stuff is not a store front operation, therefore we have little overhead, which affords us the opportunity to offer most all products at comparable/lower pricing than our competitors.  These days, where every penny really counts, most all our products are concentrated so you use less and they last longer, and we guarantee the results.  As well, we are a small family business and deal directly with most all suppliers, which leads to better prices and more responsive customer service.  Our relatively small stock inventory means our customers get fresh product each time they order.  Lastly, we know how everyone loves free “stuff”, so we add a little something extra to almost all orders.  We want our customers to be happy, healthy and eager to shop with us again.

Q/ How do you choose which products to offer?

A/

We carefully research each product, paying special attention to those that have won awards or accreditation, or come highly recommended by knowledgeable folks in the business of preserving human health and our planet.  We are careful to avoid toxic chemicals and controversial materials.  Fair trade, climate footprint, sustainability, working conditions, etc. all influence product/company selection.  With no official guidelines for cosmetic production, many companies are using a play on words, not disclosing full ingredient lists and creating labels that can be very misleading to the consumer.  Our integrity is on the line, therefore we seek out suppliers who value their integrity and sense of responsibility.

Q/ Can we view your products in person?

A/

To personally view all our ever-expanding product lines (there's more than what we display on our web site!), please call or email us to set up a time that's convenient for you.  We can schedule a time for you and a few friends to get together to share information, view products, or experience luxurious trials.  We also hold open houses on a monthly basis and host periodic guest speakers to increase your learning experience.  Please email us to be added to our mailing list to be included in our notification of events.

Q/ Can we test the skin care lines and/or makeup?

A/

Absolutely.  Schedule a relaxing couple of hours to experience a spa get- away.  We’ll supply all you need to have a full facial and makeup session.  Cheryl will even provide foot care (for an additional fee), which will leave you feeling, “a foot-up!"

Q/ How can I place an order?

If you're not ordering in person, we will be happy to assist you in your ordering decisions by either telephone at(902) 542-1135or email.  Please go to our Contact Us tab for contact details.  Sister’s Alternative Stuff has a wide variety of recycled, natural, non-toxic, organic and biodegradable selections for home, baby, pets, all your daily needs and thoughtful gift-giving, as well as gift certificates.  Our website catalogue highlights only a partial picture of our products, we will feature any new, fabulous finds as we continue to shop for you.

Q/ How long does it take to process an order?

A/

Most orders are promptly filled and delivered within 7 to 14 days.  If there is a delay with our supplier, we will notify you with an estimated time of arrival.

Q/ Are there any hidden fees?

A/

With the exception of mail orders, the price you see on the website will be the price you pay, in Canadian dollars.  Taxes are included, although shipping and handling can only be determined when you order.  We will make every effort to keep the delivery costs to a minimum. Annapolis Valley delivery is free!  We will try to maintain product availability and our quoted prices, but due to market conditions, both are subject to change without notice.  All items are fully guaranteed and may be returned within 30 days for exchange or refund.  We accept cash or cheque, which must be paid on or before delivery date.
